As a business owner, you want to avoid legal problems. Learn how to cover yourself when marketing and advertising your products and services online. From small businesses to emerging companies, understand the laws governing what you do online.
What you’ll learn in this class:
- Basic laws governing advertisement, including FTC and California State law
- Know your industry-specific regulations
- Online advertising – is it any different?
- Laws on e-mailing: policies of email, MailChimp, and other vendors, and what you can and cannot do when building a marketing email list
- When you should have a terms of service or terms of use if you sell products online
- The FTC’s shipping rule.
- The laws about marketing and selling to minors
- Sales Tax and Privacy issues
There will be a presentation followed by a Q&A session where Eric Little will answer your questions.
About Eric Little
Eric Little opened a law practice in Nevada City in 2017 with a focus on meeting the needs of technology companies. He was the editor of the Journal of Law and Policy in International Business at Georgetown University Law Center. He also has practiced law in Washington DC for the Securities and Exchange Commission and in New York City for Shearman & Sterling and the Chase Manhattan Bank. Most recently, he spent ten years analyzing deal terms for start-up companies for the law firm of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.
